Rapid response to safeguard water quality at Gelre Hospital in Apeldoorn

In October 2024, MTD rapidly deployed a temporary water infrastructure for the Gelre Hospital in Apeldoorn after E. coli contamination was detected in the local water network. This critical intervention allowed the hospital to maintain water supply for essential services safely.

Following the discovery of E. coli in the Vitens water supply, MTD swiftly provided a secure water solution for the Gelre Hospital, including:

• First system on-site within 24 hours
• Full installation of a parallel temporary water infrastructure, creating a bypass for the hospital’s own water buffer
• Two large buffer bags supplying 170 m³ of safe water daily, maintained with continuous refills by local partners
• Ongoing quality assurance with sterilized piping, UV filtration, and regular water sampling

Upon detecting E. coli in the local water supply, the Gelre Hospital required an immediate, safe water solution to meet the needs of its patients, staff, and facility operations.
