London Olympics 2012
In the summer of 2012 it was London’s turn to host the 27th Olympic Games. For the third time in history the games were organised in the British capital. More than 10.000 athletes from 204 countries strove for the one of the 962 medals. Luckily MTD was part of this unique event.
MTD provided the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London with temporary drinking water and waste water infrastructures for a total of 68 venues. For this event MTD opened a local warehouse and installed a dedicated project team in London. The team was made up of MTD staff and many local workers. MTD’s task was to design (including AutoCAD drawings), build-up, maintain and dismantle all outside temporary water and waste water infrastructures of the 68 venues. The scope of work included buffering of water, main infrastructures, connection of toilets, showers, hospitality, stables and so on both for drinking water and waste water. This was done within the given tight timeframes. There was a total of 100 km of pipeline installed and up to 600 toilet pumps connected. The project team was scaled up to 150 employees consisting of 130 technicians and 20 office staff. MTD is grateful to have been part of such a successful event.
