Environmental and Sustainability Coordinator

We are looking for an Environmental and Sustainability Coordinator for the Head Office in Tilburg. You will play a crucial role within MTD by developing, implementing, and monitoring strategies and procedures that promote sustainability. This includes but is not limited to environmental compliance, evaluating the environmental impact of our rental fleet and sustainable impact on project locations.

Job content

In collaboration with others, you ensure compliance with standards and develop, implement, and coordinate our BLUWAVE program, alongside other eco-friendly practices such as energy conservation and waste management.

You are a sparring partner for all levels in the organization. As an ambitious and flexible specialist, you offer support on a wide range of sustainability topics. You make a solid contribution by effectively using the available instruments and translate them effortlessly into practice. You contribute by improving/ creating environmental related policies and procedures, working on digitalization of projects and making environmental aspects an even more important topic within MTD.

What makes you the right candidate?
  • A completed university education in a related topic, as Environmental Science
  • You have strong analytical skills and the ability to collect and interpret data
  • Excellent command of the Dutch and English language
  • You pick up verbal and non-verbal communication quickly, understand and translate this and ask questions if anything is unclear
  • You know how to determine goals and priorities and indicate the necessary actions, time and resources to achieve these goals
  • Flexibility and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • You have project management skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously

For more than 35 years,  MTD has established itself as a leading specialist in temporary water infrastructure solutions, with a global footprint ensuring the provision of potable water of the highest quality, as well as the filtration and recycling of wastewater. MTD operates in 2 divisions: the Pure Water division is active in major international events such as the Olympic Games, Formula 1, European and World Cup football and festivals. The Flex Water division focuses on projects such as disaster relief, offshore and refugee camps. Delivering safe water infrastructures for these events and projects in accordance with the correct specifications and on time is top sport. This requires experience, a solution-oriented approach, availability and adaptation when necessary.

MTD’s Head Office is located in Tilburg, the Netherlands. There are offices in various countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and the Americas. We have approximately 180 employees and, with 1500 projects per year, and are the world market leader in the field of temporary water infrastructures for events. One of our ambitions is to position ourselves there for the activities in our Flex Water division as well. MTD wants to be a reliable water partner for its customers and is at the forefront of sustainability, water saving and circular solutions.

Reaching sustainability starts with raising awareness. The following key areas need to be met to meet MTD’s sustainability and environmental goals:

  • Reducing single-use plastics: MTD offers solutions like bottle refill stations to encourages visitors on events to fill up their reusable bottles.
  • Save drinking water: Saving drinking water not only improves the design of water infrastructures but also helps the user to measure water quality by using real-time monitoring systems, leading to better consumption and leaving water available for others.
  • Reusing wastewater: wastewater can be treated and reused for flushing toilets, wash water, irrigation water or discharged as surface water.
  • Reducing CO2 footprint: MTD actively seeks to minimize CO2 emissions through onsite wastewater treatment, fewer transport activities, and energy efficiency, thereby lowering our carbon footprint.
