Project

Platforms in the North Sea

In November 2014, MTD connected kitchens, toilets and showers on a work platform in the North Sea to a sustainable water system.

For the platform, on which approximately 40 employees stay for operations, MTD developed special machines to make drinking water from seawater per WHO guidelines. Wastewater from the kitchens, toilets and showers is treated in such a way that it can be discharged back into the sea according to MARPOL regulations. With the drinking water machine and wastewater machine on the platform, up to 12m3 of water can be treated daily. The quality of the drinking water on the work platform is monitored in Tilburg, the Netherlands.
